Energy Work and Tattooing

A few years ago, I was really struggling with anxiety. I tried everything that is suggested or expected of us when we have an issue like this - I changed my diet, got better sleep, exercised, went to therapy, tried medications and meditated. And yet, I was still struggling with very intense panic attacks that would leave me feeling shaken and helpless. Feeling desperate, I had heard of Reiki and decided to give it a try - I had nothing to lose. That session changed my life. 

Not only did I feel like my body reset itself, but I could also understand from a mental, emotional and spiritual perspective why I was still suffering from anxiety. After that session, I no longer struggled with panic attacks that debilitated me, and I felt myself start to heal from past traumas and suffering. I became a certified Reiki practitioner in 2019 to assist others with their own journey of healing.

So, what is Reiki? The traditional definition is Reiki is a Japanese form of alternative medicine called energy healing, although there have been many forms of energy or hands on healing in many cultures. The term Reiki comes from the Japanese words "rei" and "ki", which mean universal and vital life force energy that flows through all living things. To me, it means that the energy we are all made of can be shared. The Reiki practitioner assists this sharing by becoming a conduit for the energy. Ultimately, the recipient of Reiki uses this energy to heal. It's very similar to describing the placebo effect when referring to medicine.

I believe that tattooing is a powerful exchange between two people, and tattooing as an art form and is tribal, and as old as our humanity. The experience can be cathartic, intense, joyful, painful, and everything in between.  As a tattoo artist, my responsibility goes beyond just providing a tattoo - it's also to act as a guide and assist you through the experience. This is why I incorporate Reiki into my practice. It goes where it is needed and can assist with healing, stress, pain management, and anxiety. The end result becomes a more meaningful, calm, and beautiful experience.

I am also offering a unique and progressive tattoo experience that includes Tarot reading, a Reiki session and collaboration to create an intuitive tattoo.
